If you walk around to Modoc street, you'll see some more commercial buildings.  This one is highly unusual, with what appears to be a small watchtower surmounting it.

Tulelake Water Tower
Tulelake's water tower.  The city had trouble locating good water and finally drilled a well 3,000 feet deep to get it.
At the base of the water tower is this tiny park featuring a single rose bush.

True Value Hardware
Tulelake has a True Value hardware store on Modoc.
Tulelake sports a large, modern post office, which not only serves Tulelake, but Newell and some surrounding areas.

Mike and Wandas
Mike and Wanda's is a restaurant and lodge, and is quite popular.
We decided to head down the road a short bit for dinner.  As you head east, you pass the massive Tulelake Cold Storage Company.

Newell Growers Association
Further down the road is the imposing elevator of Newell Growers.
Just a few miles down the road is Captain Jack's Stronghold.  We enjoy this restaurant for its food, and its garden out back.  We sat out back and watched the sunset as we ate.  The restaurant is named for the nearby Modoc War site.

Sunset on The Peninsula
Spectacular sunsets happen with regularity out here.  Sunset on The Peninsula was extraordinary.
Sunset in the Basin was beautiful.  We can't wait to return!
